WORK LESS WEDNESDAY
WLW #120
📕 1. Book I’m Reading – Self Therapy by Jay Earley
For the last 30 days, I did Julia Cameron’s “Morning Pages.”
One revelation I had was that I keep a long list of “miscellaneous self-care” stuff I want to get around to… at some point.
This included things like:
- Get a haircut
- Get a massage
- Do a sauna/cold plunge
- Get a therapist
So started putting them on the calendar.
Pleased to report that I now have a haircut.
And a therapist.
Which brings me to this book…
My therapist practices “IFS” or Internal Family Systems.
“IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.”
While the creator of IFS has his own book called “No Bad Parts,” my therapist actually recommended this book called “Self Therapy” as the best place to start with.
If you’re interested in learning more about IFS, definitely check it out.
💊 2. My $343 Health Experiment – Blueprint Stack
I’ve shared Bryan Johnson’s wild Blueprint Health Protocol in a past WLW.
This week I went crazy and picked up his full $343 month supply.
It includes 3 meals, a bottle of olive oil and 4 supplements.
According to the site, it’s got:
✅ 74 powerful therapies
✅ 400 calories
✅ Built upon 1,000+ clinical trials
✅ Lower cost than fast food
✅ Third party tested
It comes in the mail tomorrow.
Will let you know how healthy I feel in 30 days.
📖 3. Book I Read A Few Weeks Ago – The Ultimate Coach
There is a coach who charges $200,000 to work with him.
His name is Steve Hardison.
But, “To call Steve Hardison a coach, would be like calling The Beatles a garage band.”
He’s the real deal.
I had to know what this guy was all about.
Turns out someone wrote a book about him.
The Ultimate Coach is a great read, especially for the stories about how Steve changes lives in his coaching practice.
🕊️ 4. How To Find Inner Peace (From Jack Black) – Watch This Instagram Reel
In his press tour for Kung Fu Panda 4, Jack Black was asked…
Q: Do you have any advice on finding inner peace?
His answer was pretty awesome:
A: “It’s great to work hard, but it’s also great to not.
To take time to just do nothing,
and just disappear into the nothing,
and to just contemplate the enormity of the universe.
I love to do it, and I think it’s healing.
I think it’s good for you, and to just realize.
Take a minute every day to just realize we are in the universe.
This infinitely large reality you take for granted all the time because you start worrying about the small stuff.”
🧘 5. Meditation App I’m Testing – The Way
I’ve been using meditation apps on and off for almost a decade.
This week I was introduced to “The Way” by Kevin Rose.
Here’s what he said about it:
“The Way is different in that it only offers one path of training. There are no sleep stories or other add-ons, just one insanely well-designed path for those ready to embark on a deep training path.”
