WORK LESS WEDNESDAY
WLW #150
👋 Hey Reader!
This is issue #150 of Work Less Wednesday, where I share with you 5 things you should know about, in 5 minutes or less. That leaves you with 10,075 other minutes this week.

🤕 2. No, Everything Doesn’t Have To Suck – Blog by Paul Millerd

In this great blog post, Paul Millerd shares an incredibly controversial idea…
Work doesn’t have to suck.
Don’t believe it’s controversial?
How many of these “work stories” have you told yourself?
- “If you aren’t struggling, it’s not worth doing.”
- “You need to have a stable job.”
- “Work is about sacrifice for your family.”
The default perspective on work is that it should be hard, and it should suck.
This mindset is everywhere in American culture.
- We describe Sunday gardening as “productive.”
- We hide layoffs from friends and family like shameful secrets.
- We wear busyness as a badge of honor.
For every 1 person crushing their personal hustle olympics, another 5 are stressed or beating themselves up for not keeping up.
Here’s the truth according to Paul:
We don’t have a scarcity of grind. We have a scarcity of optimism, earnestness, kindness, curiosity, delight, and exuberance. We should worry more about those than extracting 1% more effort out of the population. We have plenty to gain by tipping the balance toward more joy and less pain.
🎨 3. I Am Looking For A Designer To Work With…

Please have mercy on my inbox.
I’m looking for a graphic designer to partner with me to create visuals like the ones I created above (and the ones here, here, and here).
You must be interested in:
- Communicating complex ideas with simple visuals
- Data visualization
- Minimalism
Us working together would look like this:
I send you my writing and video scripts and you help craft simple, beautiful, powerful, minimalist visuals to accompany (and enhance) the writing.
If you’re just looking to bill some hours and make some quick cash, this is not for you.
I’m serious about my partnerships and like to work with people for years.
If that’s you, please reply back to this email with:
- Samples of work
- General pricing (hourly, project, or whatever)
If I think it might be a fit, I will reply to your email with a (paid) test project.
🎥 4. Watch A Creator With 100K Subscribers Audit My YouTube Channel – Loom by Zach Heyde

Last week composer, Youtuber, friend, and client Zach Heyde generously recorded a Loom video auditing my YouTube channel.
It’s about 11 minutes and full of gold.
P.S. In the video Zach shared this “12 Hooks” framework with me. Here’s the link:
