WORK LESS WEDNESDAY
WLW #129
🎥 1. God, Drugs, Long Term Recovery, & Business – Dialogue with Rich Webster & Blake La Grange
When I was in La Jolla a few weeks ago, I sat down with my buddy Blake La Grange for a quick podcast.
We got into deep territory fast, discussing work-life integration, recovery, and a whole lot more.
Watch our conversation here.
P.S. Blake and I are working on something really special. More to come very soon!
📈 2. Cool YouTube Channel About The Entrepreneurship Journey – Ecom Soup
Just found out about this one last night.
These dudes have been recording a vlog every weekday documenting building their ecomm business.
The vibes are great.
Not your usual business content.
🛋️ 3. Where I’ve Been Most Summer Nights – Couch Tour
ICYMI – I’m a Phish fan.
They’re in the middle of an epic summer tour and I’ve been there every single night…
From my couch.
Did you know many bands offer livestreams of their shows?
I paid $500 to have access to watch EVERY Phish summer tour show live.
Couch tour is the best.
Highly recommend it.
P.S. You can get a taste on their YouTube channel every night they play a show:
They stream the first song of each set for free.
📦 4. Life Hack – Hire People To Pack/Unpack Your Stuff
My wife and I just bought a new house (we close in 2 weeks!). 🥳
Moving can be super stressful, but I’m here to share a major life hack for you:
Don’t pack/unpack your own stuff.
I said it.
Now, this is not for everyone.
I get it, it costs money.
We’re lucky to be able to do this.
But I’d argue this is more attainable than many realize AND actually makes sense financially (ESPECIALLY if you are self employed.)
So here’s the deal:
You will most likely make more money by continuing to work/run your business during the move than it will cost you to pay someone to fill up and empty your boxes.
Spending a week (or more!) off from work packing and unpacking is not a good ROI on your time.
Someone has gotta do it, but it doesn’t have to be you.
💬 5. Quote I’m Thinking About – Rick Rubin On Creating Exceptional Work
“Rules direct us to average behaviors.
If we’re aiming to create works that are exceptional, most rules don’t apply.
Average is nothing to aspire to.
The goal is not to fit in.
If anything, it’s to amplify the differences, what doesn’t fit, the special characteristics unique to how you see the world.Instead of sounding like others, value your own voice.
Develop it.
Cherish it.”
Rick Rubin – The Creative Act p. 97 “Rules”
