🎧 1. Building A Real Business (Not An Online Marketing One) – Video by Blake La Grange

I want to introduce you to my friend Blake.

Over the last year he’s become a close friend, mentor, and business partner.

I hope to use this video as a chance to get to know him and help you understand more about the new business I’m building (which I teased to last week).

In the video he discusses:

  • Online course vs. Universities
  • Marketers vs. Experts
  • How to charge the most, do the least
  • How to scale (the right way)
  • How to move out of online biz and into the real world
  • How to build real equity

I truly believe the insights in this video, when applied thoughtfully, are worth hundreds of thousands to the right entrepreneur.

Check it out here.

đź’§ 2. These Fountains Are Incredible – The Art Of Lily Clark

This week I’ve become obsessed with the work of Lily Clark.

Lily Clark is a Los Angeles based artist working across
a variety of materials, including stone, ceramic, and metal to shape and contain water. Through close observation and successive experimentation, she seeks to illuminate the fundamentals of fluid dynamics.

Here are 3 of my favorite pieces:

You can find her work on Instagram here and her website here.

đź’¬ 3. Quote I’m Thinking About – On Compromising Your Work

“Too many of us who start down the path of compromise will never make it back. Considering the fact that you’ll likely spend more of your waking hours at your job than in any other part of your life, it’s a compromise that will always eat away at you.”

đź‘€ 4. Please, Stare At This Painting For 10 Minutes – NYT Focus Challenge

“We asked readers to spend 10 minutes with a painting. No distractions, no notifications — just a full 10 minutes of attention. Here’s how it went.

How much time do we really spend with a work of art?

Even with a piece I love at a museum, it might only be 3-5 minutes.

And as an art lover who still can be guilty of powering through sections of an art museum, I learned a ton from this exercise in mindful focus.

During my 10 minutes with Great Bridge: Sudden Rain at Atake I…

  • Marveled at each individual figure.
  • Wondering what the significance of each person was.
  • Zoomed in and out on each area of the image.
  • Contemplated the use of red and other colors in the work.
  • Wondered how the artist could create such a deep ceruelean blue.
  • Looked intently at the border designs.
  • Took in the calligraphy of the signatures.
  • And that was only the first 5 minutes!

This was an exercise that challenged me to spend more time with art.

I recommend you give it a try!

There’s much more depth to be uncovered.
